The Nelson Lawn Tennis Club hosted Marlborough Tennis Club for the home tie of the Bennett Cup on Sunday 21st in scorching conditions. The twelve men and twelve lady team at the Nelson Lawn Tennis Club had a big task ahead having lost the away tie in November 36-12. To take out the tie they needed to win 37 out of the 48 matches being played which included singles, doubles and mixed.
The Nelson Lawn Tennis Club playing a mixture of both junior and senior members did put up a strong fight and won the days fixture 30-18, however lost the combined series with an overall win to Marlborough Tennis Club 54-42
